About The Position

KidStrong Toledo is seeking passionate, energetic, and enthusiastic professionals to join their team. KidStrong is a milestone accelerator for children aged walking to 11 years old, focusing on building stronger, smarter, and more athletic kids who are confident and ready to succeed in life. The Camp Coach will be responsible for coaching children on brain, physical, and character development using a designed camp curriculum. This role requires comfort in speaking with parents/guardians about any incidents and availability during typical camp hours (9 am - 2:30 pm, which may vary). Additional opportunities for coaching private parties and KidStrong Classes may be available after completing further training.

Requirements

  • Passion for working with children is non-negotiable.
  • CPR certified.
  • Positive, motivating, and effective interpersonal communication skills.
  • Self-starter who just gets a job done.
  • Comfortable speaking to parents/guardians regarding any incidents that take place during camp.
  • Available during typical camp hours (9 am - 2:30 pm, may vary).

Nice To Haves

  • Athletic or coaching background.
  • Experience in summer camps or coaching kids ages 4 - 9.
  • Prior experience coaching students within the appropriate KidStrong age.
  • Intermediate knowledge of physiology, exercise technique, and body mechanics.
  • Enjoy the spotlight.

Responsibilities

  • Coach children in a camp setting with sizes up to 20, ages 4-9.
  • Teach the KidStrong curriculum as provided by the HQ programming team.
  • Ensure camps start and end on schedule and follow the appropriate pace of the curriculum.
  • Greet students and parents/guardians upon arrival.
  • Maintain a dynamic, fun, motivational, and professional demeanor while leading camp.
  • Demonstrate and manage the implementation of various exercises.
  • Keep an accurate record of attendance.
  • Ensure the cleanliness of the center, including lobby, bathrooms, and floors, which involves trash removal, sweeping, mopping, equipment wiping, and mat sanitization.
  • Utilize the KS Coach’s App to record class data and provide records for parents (attendance, awards, etc.).
  • Communicate professionally with co-workers via Slack, including periodic message checks.
  • Complete required training through LearnUpon.
  • Work in a physically intensive environment, potentially covering multiple miles in a shift, and lifting/moving equipment up to 25 pounds.
  • Work 'hands-on' with kids to ensure proper technique and student safety.
  • Attend mandatory staff meetings as required by the KidStrong Director.
  • Obtain camp-certified status from the HQ Training and Certification team.
  • Provide supervision, ensure safety, and implement programs for campers, prioritizing the well-being of all children.
