Camera Systems Engineer

Apple•Cupertino, CA

About The Position

As part of Apple’s Camera Technologies group, the Camera Systems Engineer helps design innovative technology for Apple camera systems, contributing to photography experiences across Apple products. The role involves designing and developing camera-system technology from sensor to lens and collaborating with teams across Apple to research, design, develop, test, and qualify camera hardware. The engineer performs system-level analysis and modeling of imaging and sensing systems, and defines, executes, and automates system-level tests for parametric specifications and end-to-end performance.

Requirements

  • BS/MS in a relevant field (EE, ME, CS, or Physics) or equivalent, and 10 years of industry experience.
  • Experience with digital camera and/or optical systems technology.
  • Experience in system-level modeling/simulation, quantitative data analysis, and/or image/signal processing in Matlab and/or Python.
  • Experience designing and performing laboratory experiments for camera testing.

Nice To Haves

  • PhD in a relevant field (EE, ME, CS, or Physics) or equivalent.
  • Experience defining and documenting system-level requirements and defining and executing system- and subsystem-level tests and analysis to validate overall system performance.
  • Experience with software/hardware automation.
  • Experience with collaborative software development and regression testing (e.g. git, Jenkins, etc.).
  • Familiarity with one or more of the following: image signal processing pipelines, CMOS image sensor technology, analog/digital electronics.

Responsibilities

  • Perform system-level analysis and modeling of imaging and sensing systems.
  • Define, execute, and automate system-level tests for parametric specifications and end-to-end performance.
  • Collaborate with teams across Apple to research, design, develop, test, and qualify camera hardware.
  • Design and develop technology for camera systems, from sensor to lens.
