About The Position

Serving the Southern Arizona Border Region Enforcement (SABRE), a unit of the Cochise County Sheriff Office (CCSO), under direct supervision of the Supervisor of Camera Room Monitors, performs a variety of duties in support of the overall work of the CCSO based on the vision and goals of the SABRE Unit; may perform other duties as assigned. This safety sensitive position requires a comprehensive background check including polygraph and psychological examination, pre-employment drug screening, fingerprinting, and post employment, random drug screening. The position is grant funded through December 31, 2027, with employment beyond this date potentially contingent upon continued grant funding.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
  • Possess and maintain a valid Arizona Driver's License.
  • Ability to be covered by county insurance.
  • Knowledge of appropriate use of chain of command, or the ability to obtain such knowledge.
  • Knowledge of transmission codes used to relay information in adherence with CCSO guidelines, or the ability to obtain such knowledge.
  • Skill in analyzing and evaluating data from a variety of sources of remote sensors, or the aptitude to obtain such skills.
  • Skill in organization, adaptability and decision making.
  • Skill in critical thinking in high stress or high intensity situations.
  • Skill in computer software/hardware applications.
  • Skill in building strong working relationships.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and other agencies.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instruction.
  • Ability to learn new software.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to gather information and prepare written reports in a detailed, clear and precise manner.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors camera activity in real time to receive and transmit information to individuals in the field; monitoring is performed with a goal of identifying and intercepting suspected terrorists, illegal aliens, human smugglers, illicit drugs, and other illegal contraband from entering the United States.
  • Uses information from law enforcement information systems to direct and advise responding officers including outside agencies.
  • Inform supervisor of progress, potential controversies and/or widespread impacts.
  • Exercises independent judgment in planning and prioritizing the sequence, direction and progress of work.
