About The Position

This role is responsible for promptly and professionally answering telephone calls, updating patient demographic information in electronic records, creating new patient records, verifying insurance information and eligibility, and scheduling patient appointments according to established protocols. The position also involves communicating with physician office staff regarding patient concerns and scheduling changes, referring patients to appropriate resources, identifying and scheduling needed preventative visits, and participating in population health outreach campaigns. Other duties as assigned by a supervisor or manager.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Must have knowledge of medical terminology and medical insurance requirements.
  • Must have a minimum of 1 year experience working in medical office environment.
  • Must have experience working with electronic health records.
  • Must possess strong customer service skills.
  • Must be able to multi-task.

Nice To Haves

  • Graduation from medical office or medical administration program preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Updates patient demographic information and enter into electronic record.
  • Creates new patient records as needed.
  • Conduct insurance information verification and eligibility checks.
  • Schedules patient appointments according to established office protocols and triage guidelines.
  • Communicate with physician office staff on patient concerns, requests, and scheduling changes.
  • Refer patients as needed to Griffin Faculty Physician and Griffin Hospital resources.
  • Identifies potential gaps in care, including need for annual preventative visits, and schedules as needed.
  • Participates in population health outreach campaigns and helps to schedule as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or manager.
