About The Position

Avid4 Adventure is seeking enthusiastic individuals to empower kids to live active outdoor lifestyles through our unique outdoor programming. As a Flat Water SUP Instructor, you will spend a week with a group of campers leading Standup paddleboarding, kayaking, and/or canoeing. You will also participate in other programming such as leading programs in mountain biking, outdoor rock climbing, and camp games. Safety is paramount, and you will be responsible for risk management and teaching campers how to recreate safely. You will serve as a role model for campers, demonstrating and guiding them in appropriate behavior, attitudes, and activities. Providing exceptional customer service to campers, parents, and Avid families is also a key aspect of this role. Most positions require eligibility to drive, involving transporting campers to and from program areas using company passenger vans. Relocation bonuses are available for eligible out-of-state staff.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age by the start of camp.
  • Drivers: Must be at least 20 years of age, possess a 3-year valid driver’s license, and have a clean driving record.
  • Drivers: Due to California regulations, must possess a CDL or non-CA based driver's license to drive 15-passenger vans.
  • Minimum of Basic First Aid, CPR, and Mandatory Reporter certification by the start of camp.

Nice To Haves

  • +1 years of experience working with kids in a professional or volunteer setting preferred.
  • Experience in core sports (paddleboarding, kayaking, canoeing, mountain biking, outdoor rock climbing) is highly preferred, but not required for all positions.
  • Relevant certifications such as Swift Water Rescue, ACA L3 or L4 Paddle Certification, Wilderness First Aid are preferred and eligible for bonuses.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Standup paddleboarding, kayaking, and/or canoeing with a co-instructor for a week with a group of campers.
