About The Position

Scientific Safety Alliance (SSA) is a rapidly growing company serving the life sciences and biotech industries. The Calyx operating company, which you would be joining, supports Healthcare Technology Management (HTM), Clinical Engineering, and Biomedical Engineering departments. This role is designed for individuals with the right attitude and foundational knowledge who are eager to learn a precision technical trade and build a long-term career. Calyx focuses on keeping controlled environments and precision instruments compliant and accurate, removing friction for their customers so they can focus on advancing science.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic math skills including percentages, measurements, and unit conversions.
  • Strong reading comprehension to follow detailed written instructions precisely.
  • Some hands-on technical aptitude (from school, military, trade work, or a serious hobby).
  • Willingness to travel approximately 3 weeks per month, Monday through Thursday, with weekends home.
  • Comfortable wearing a sport jacket on customer sites (first two provided).
  • Ability to provide vaccination records: Hepatitis B, MMR, Tuberculosis, Varicella, and Influenza, or willingness to meet customer vendor requirements.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Authorized to work in the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • Backgrounds in electronics, engineering technology, instrumentation, biomedical equipment, or a related technical field.
  • 2-year and 4-year degrees are welcome.
  • Military transitioners, especially those with electronics, calibration, or biomedical equipment backgrounds.
  • Trade school graduates in electronics, HVAC, instrumentation, or similar.
  • Career changers with strong mechanical or electronic aptitude and a real desire to learn.
  • Experience in electronics, calibration, or biomedical equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Travel Monday through Thursday, with the possibility of occasional Sunday departures (rare) and returning home every weekend.
  • Spend approximately one week per month at the State College office on rotation, supporting the team and continuing training.
  • Provide vaccination records (Hepatitis B, MMR, Tuberculosis, Varicella, and Influenza) or willingness to meet customer vendor requirements.
  • Work alongside experienced technicians for training on equipment, procedures, and customer relationships.
  • Follow precise written calibration procedures with care and accuracy.
  • Document work thoroughly to support compliance and continuity.
  • Build trusted relationships with customers at various levels, from warehouse staff to directors.
