Requirements

  • High school plus two (2) years of college training in mathematics, physics, engineering and electrical theory or the recognized equivalent.
  • 3 years of experience doing electrical testing or installation in an industrial or commercial environment.
  • Knowledge of oscilloscopes, multi-meters, accelerometers, and microphones.
  • Experience testing cable harnesses.
  • Experience reading schematics.
  • Experience building a test plan for electrical calibration.
  • US Citizenship is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Associates Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • ASQ certification or similar certification in calibration.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, adjust and calibrate the most complex working level instruments measurement systems and laboratory standards and advise others on their application and use.
  • Set up, maintain and calibrate working level instruments and laboratory standards for any six (6) or more types of measurements within one of the following three groups: Mechanical and physical work (Pressure, Vacuum, Temperature, Humidity, Force, Torque), Gage work (Optics, Machine Cutting Tools, Threads, Hardness, Ring, plug, snap &. fixture ("Go-"No Go"), Angular and radial measurement, Lineal measurement, Laser Interferometry, Surface flatness), or Electrical and electronic work (Time and frequency, Distortion, Acceleration, Vibration, Displacement and velocity, DC Voltage, current & power, AC Voltage, current & power, Resistance, capacitance, inductance, Bridges, Oscilloscopes).
  • Advise others on the application, performance and use of instruments and standards.
  • Devise bench tests to prove validity of repair work.
  • Develop and establish new and more effective calibration methods, techniques and procedures and adjust instrument recall cycles based on usage and historical calibration data.
  • Perform similar or lower classified work as required.
  • Provide technical guidance and instruction to lower classified employees.
