About The Position

The Calibration System Integration Engineer leads the commissioning, integration, and testing of calibration development resources, including virtual and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) setups, physical system dynamometer resources, and full vehicles. The role covers commissioning and execution of new system-level propulsion test resources, along with test and validation support for propulsion strategy and execution. The engineer is the primary point of contact for system-level design validation and testing across these resources. The role supports HIL, dynamometer, and vehicle commissioning and first-run activities, and works closely with the powertrain controls team to ensure features function sufficiently and efficiently. It provides training on propulsion vehicle and controls operation, supports environmental test trips and management reporting, works with Center of Excellence teams to follow best practices, and serves as the lead contact for issues in the assigned functional area.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Automotive experience from work or university, such as Formula SAE, Baja, or SAE EcoCar.
  • Good oral and written communication skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Ability to execute a disciplined test plan and verification process to ensure quality calibrations are released.
  • Strong knowledge of powertrain systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of control system development tools such as MATLAB and Simulink.
  • Knowledge of calibration tools including INCA, MDA, PowerCal, CRETA, CANAlyzer, and CANoe.
  • At least two years of calibration experience on an electrification application.
  • Experience in powertrain control solutions development, including powertrain control algorithms, onboard diagnostics (OBD), or embedded software.
  • Knowledge of e-machine and power electronics fundamentals and electrification power flow.
  • Experience in engine or transmission design and development and/or powertrain systems engineering.
  • Master’s degree in Engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Lead system and cross-feature calibration and validation, including drive modes, system state-of-charge management, range estimation, end-of-line processes, and human-machine interface features.
  • Support first-run activities for HIL, dynamometer, and vehicle properties.
  • Lead validation of PCR packages and identify hardware, software, and calibration deficiencies before hard release.
  • Provide fuel economy and emissions support, including dynamometer support, data review, and issue or vehicle triage.
  • Lead development trips to support development work and meet program milestones.
  • Summarize data from trips, daily drives, and fleets to support calibration maturity for quality gates.
  • Schedule AVL drive testing, lead triage, and implement improvements.
  • Support issue resolution, including GIMs and IMS.
  • Support commissioning and first-run activities for HIL, dynamometer, and vehicle resources.
  • Work with the powertrain controls team to ensure features function effectively.
  • Train calibration engineers and others on propulsion vehicle and controls operation.
  • Support environmental test trips and report activities to senior management.
  • Work with Center of Excellence teams to ensure best practices are followed.
  • Serve as the lead contact for system issues in the functional area.
