About The Position

Teradyne’s Hardware Engineering team is seeking a technically driven Calibration Engineer for its Compute Test division. The role develops calibration software, algorithms, and validation for instruments, with ownership of assigned instrument calibration tasks and guidance from senior engineers and a team lead. The work takes place in a dynamic, multi-site environment and focuses on precision measurement and automated test equipment (ATE). The position reports to the Calibration Software Engineering Manager. The engineer develops calibration programs and embedded algorithms for digital, DC, AC, and RF instruments; contributes to calibration strategies and hardware error-budget analysis; and creates offline and online tests to validate calibration and hardware performance. The role also involves debugging calibration issues, collaborating across functions on corrective actions, integrating external measurement equipment into calibration and validation programs, presenting work in design reviews, and helping onboard and mentor interns, co-ops, or new engineers. Candidates must be local to the position location; relocation is not available. The position is not eligible for visa sponsorship. The base salary range is $132,900–$212,600, with compensation depending on experience, skills, demand, and location.

Requirements

  • BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field with equivalent experience.
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience; a new-graduate MS candidate with strong project or internship work will also be considered.
  • Experience writing programs and algorithms for instruments or measurement systems in C, C++, C#, and/or Python.
  • Understanding of analog and digital circuit fundamentals, including op-amps, ADC/DAC, noise, offset, and gain error.
  • Hands-on experience with bench instruments such as DMMs, oscilloscopes, power supplies, and spectrum analyzers.
  • Working knowledge of statistics and data analysis for measurement validation.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn new domains quickly.
  • Must be local to the position location; relocation is not provided.
  • Must not require visa sponsorship, as the position is not eligible for sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science and electrical engineering.
  • Exposure to calibration strategy documents, error budgets, or ATE/semiconductor test.
  • Experience with C# and automated test frameworks.

Responsibilities

  • Develop calibration programs and embedded algorithms for digital, DC, AC, and RF instrument calibration in ATE equipment using C, C++, C#, and Python.
  • Contribute to calibration strategy documents defining the hardware circuits required for instruments to meet accuracy specifications, using knowledge of low-level analog and digital circuits.
  • Support hardware error-budget development and offline and online validation of error terms; use statistical analysis to assess specification and process compliance.
  • Develop offline and online tests to validate instrument calibration and hardware performance.
  • Debug issues identified by calibration programs and collaborate with cross-functional teams on corrective actions.
  • Develop programs that integrate external measurement equipment, including DMMs, spectrum analyzers, and power meters, into calibration and validation programs.
  • Own assigned calibration features end to end, participate in periodic reviews, and present results in design reviews.
  • Help onboard and mentor interns, co-ops, or new engineers on calibration tools and processes.
