About The Position

Kj’s Market is hiring a part-time Cake Decorator. The role prepares and decorates bakery products for sale, maintains product quality and freshness, and helps achieve sales, shrink, and profit goals for the cake section. The Cake Decorator also provides friendly guest service and may perform bakery clerk, receiving, storage, and Front Porch duties as needed.

Requirements

Friendly, outgoing personality.
Ability to work well with others.
Ability to lift 25 pounds consistently and 50 pounds occasionally.
Ability to read and understand information and directions.
Effective communication, guest service, and selling skills.
Must be at least 18 years old.
Ability to bend, kneel, and stand for extended periods.

Responsibilities

Greet and interact with guests politely and in a friendly manner.
Prepare products for sale by icing, decorating, pricing, packaging, and labeling them.
Maintain product levels, quality, and freshness.
Perform bakery clerk functions when requested.
Maintain sanitation standards in the cooler, freezer, preparation area, and sales area; clean the work area, couplers, and decorating bags.
Keep the freezer organized and rotate products properly by variety.
Communicate guest requests to management and temperature breakdowns to a supervisor.
Keep the supply area neat, clean, and tidy.
Rotate icings properly, read icing dates, and scrape down buckets.
Use the cake manual and cake production sheet.
Write on cakes, mix colors according to the color chart, and use the airbrush.
Achieve budgeted sales, shrink, and profits for the cake section of the bakery.
Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Perform Front Porch duties to maintain the guest arrival standard.
Announce specials and sale information over the PA system.
Assist with receiving and storing products.
