About The Position

The Cage Shift Manager is responsible for overseeing cage operations during their assigned shift, ensuring effective hiring, training, and personnel management within the department. This role involves managing multiple transaction recordings, SAR activity, and maintaining a thorough knowledge of local jurisdiction and gaming laws, as well as internal controls and policies. The manager must demonstrate a strong understanding of all cage operations, identify and resolve variances, and ensure employee records and scheduling are maintained accurately. They are also responsible for monitoring schedules for call-outs or unexpected business demands, resolving problems and guest disputes, and promoting positive guest relations through excellent customer service. The position requires maintaining a professional demeanor, regular attendance, and adherence to all company policies and regulatory requirements. The role also includes answering guest questions, utilizing sound judgment, and providing leadership by example, being hands-on when necessary. The Cage Shift Manager must be flexible in scheduling, as hours are determined by a 24-hour schedule, and perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Able to read, understand the Downstream Casino, Resort Internal Control System, and Check Cashing policy.
  • Knowledge of local jurisdiction and gaming laws (Federal and Tribal) and internal controls, policies, and procedures.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of all cage operations for each cage bank.
  • Demonstrates the ability to identify and locate variances within the banks and the front line.
  • Must be flexible in scheduling.
  • Must be at least 18 years old or older upon employment.
  • High school diploma or acceptable equivalent required.
  • Must have a comprehensive knowledge of Downstream Casino Internal Controls, department and company Policies and procedures.
  • Team Member should be able to perform math problems. Basic addition, subtraction, and multiplication knowledge required.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed and technical written or oral instructions.
  • Employment is contingent upon a favorable outcome of a background investigation and drug screening.
  • Must present a well-groomed and professional appearance.
  • Must possess excellent communication skills.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Must be able to respond to visual and aural cues.
  • Ability to write routine correspondence and to speak effectively to the public, employees, and customers.
  • Must be able to deal effectively and interact well with customers and employees.
  • Must have the ability to resolve problems/conflicts in a diplomatic and tactful manner.
  • Must be able to be approved for and maintain a valid gaming license.
  • Work nights, weekends and holidays as required.

  • Previous Cage Supervisory experience preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure effective hiring, training, recognition, coaching, terminations, and other personnel related matters are being handled appropriately within the department.
  • Responsible for multiple transaction recording and SAR activity.
  • Ensure that employee records are maintained.
  • Create employee scheduling for assigned shifts.
  • Monitor employee schedules for call outs or unexpected business demands.
  • Identify, prioritize, and resolve problems during the assigned shift and communicate important information to the Cage Manager, Shift Supervisors, Main bank cashiers and cage cashiers as needed.
  • Resolve guest disputes.
  • Maintain a consistent and regular attendance record.
  • Promote positive guest relations through prompt, courteous, and efficient guest service with internal and external guests.
  • Maintain a professional departmental, company and community reputation.
  • Concisely communicate problems, ideas, and concerns to management on a timely basis.
  • Answer guest questions about Downstream property and TGA questions about job specific.
  • Demonstrate attention to detail and utilize sound judgment in work situations requiring individual decisions.
  • Demonstrate leadership by example and is “hands on” when business required.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to all patrons and communicate in a pleasant, friendly, and professional manner always.
  • Maintain a professional work environment with supervisors and staff.
  • Meet the attendance guidelines of the job and adhere to regulatory, departmental and company policies.
  • Attend all necessary training meetings.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
