About The Position

Under the supervision of the School Nutrition Director, this role involves baking, cooking, and preparing a variety of food in quantity for both breakfast and lunch. The position requires adherence to specific recipes and directives, use of various kitchen equipment, and maintaining sanitary conditions according to HACCP standards. Responsibilities also include cashiering, stocking, serving food, and ensuring food safety guidelines are followed. A minimum of 4 hours of annual continuing education/training is required.

Responsibilities

  • Prep and assembly of various hot and cold entrees (including breakfast items, pizza, burgers, hot & cold sandwiches, salads, fruits & vegetables) and other items as assigned by the Lead Cook.
  • Prepare alternative food items according to exact specifications, recipes, or directives from Lead Cook or School Nutrition Director (SND).
  • Use of kitchen equipment including buffalo chopper, shredder, deli slicer and knives, convection and conventional ovens, steamers and kettles.
  • Hand washing of pots, pans, utensils and other cooking equipment.
  • Keep each work station and all equipment clean and sanitary per HACCP standards.
  • Assist in wiping down all cafeteria tables in the dining area.
  • Cashiering responsibilities include verifying and balancing cash drawer, keeping records as directed, and adhering to all rules regarding the use of the POS system, including verifying that computer photo is that of each purchasing customer.
  • Stocking food, beverage & paper items.
  • Serving breakfast and lunches in the proper portion as instructed by Lead Cook or SND.
  • Adhere to proper food safety guidelines.
  • Perform all other duties as may be assigned by the Lead Cook or SND.
