Cafeteria Worker (Part-time, Hourly)
About The Position
Matchbook Learning is seeking a Cafeteria Worker to support daily food service operations in our K–8 school community. This is an hourly, entry-level position, ideal for individuals who enjoy working in a school environment and supporting students’ health and well-being. The Cafeteria Worker supports the preparation, service, and clean-up of daily meals while helping maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming cafeteria environment for students in grades K–8. This role works as part of a team and follows established food service procedures to ensure meals are served efficiently and in compliance with health and safety standards.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to remain calm, patient, and professional with students
- Ability to follow procedures and take direction
- Reliable attendance
- Must pass a background check
Nice To Haves
- Experience working with children or in food service, hospitality, or customer service preferred
Responsibilities
- Assist with food preparation and meal service for K–8 students
- Serve breakfast and lunch to students in a timely and respectful manner
- Support student supervision in the cafeteria during meal times
- Maintain cleanliness of food service areas, including tables, counters, and serving lines
- Assist with dishwashing, trash removal, and end-of-day clean-up
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and hygiene procedures
- Take direction from the Cafeteria Manager and school leadership
- Support inventory organization and restocking as needed
