About The Position

This is a vacant position at the Berwick and District School, effective immediately. The role is for a Cafeteria Worker with 6 hours of work per day. The rate of pay is in accordance with the CUPE Collective Agreement ($20.60). The closing date for applications is midnight, May 1, 2026. Terms and conditions of employment, including wages, are in accordance with the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Collective Agreement Local 3876.

Requirements

• Must have experience in food and menu preparation.
• Must be organized, neat/tidy and have clean work habits.
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced atmosphere.
• Must have knowledge of food and nutrition policy for Nova Scotia Public Schools.
• Must enjoy working with students.
• Valid Nova Scotia Operator's License.
• Must have a current Food Handling Certificate.

Responsibilities

• Cashier, as required.
• Cooking, baking, and preparation of food.
• Keeping daily accounts and inventory control.
• Selling canteen items at recess and noon.
• Kitchen duties as required in coordination with the cafeteria team (stocking shelves, cleaning, dishes etc.).
• Support of the school recycling program.
• Substitute for Head Cafeteria Worker, as required.
