About The Position

The Cafeteria Monitor is a part-time position responsible for supervising students, supporting the Food Services operation in the cafeteria during lunch periods, and performing other related tasks. This role is crucial for ensuring a safe and orderly environment for students during meal times and for assisting with the smooth operation of the cafeteria. The position is for the 2026-2027 school year and involves 15 hours per week, with 3 hours per day. The specific hours will be arranged by the Principal.

Requirements

  • Must pass Massachusetts criminal background check.
  • Proof of U.S. citizenship.
  • Prior experience in a school environment with an understanding of student behavior.

Nice To Haves

  • Fluent (listening, speaking, reading and writing) in both English and Spanish or Portuguese.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and assist students during meal periods and follow school protocols when needed.
  • Clean cafeteria tables between lunch periods.
  • Check daily and assist students that have restrictions for dietary or physical needs.
  • Encourage appropriate behavior and interactions; refer students to the administrator on duty when necessary.
  • Understand and adhere to all district policies and procedures.
  • Ensure the safety of students in the cafeteria.
  • Apply proper sanitation and safety requirements associated with food operations.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Establish and maintain professional work relationships with those contacted in the performance of required duties.
  • Attend in-service training and workshops when required.
  • Perform other functions as needed.
