About The Position

The job of Cafeteria Monitor is done for the purpose of performing non-classroom supervision duties, in the cafeteria. This role involves monitoring students during meal periods to ensure acceptable behavior and safety, promoting standards of courtesy, and providing supervision and direction. The Cafeteria Monitor also responds to inquiries and emergency situations, directs student movement, and monitors the execution of student duties like table washing and trash pickup. Additionally, the role includes creating seating charts for attendance and emergencies.

Responsibilities

  • Follow outlined behavior support plan and reports recurring behavioral problems and/or safety hazards to teachers or other designated school staff.
  • Monitor students during meal periods for maintaining acceptable behavioral standards at meals.
  • Promote standards of courtesy and behavior expected of students at mealtimes.
  • Provide supervision and direction to students during meals for ensuring a safe mealtime.
  • Respond to emergency situations (e.g. injured students, student disputes, etc.) for resolving immediate safety concerns and directing to appropriate personnel for resolution.
  • Respond to inquiries from a variety of sources for resolving issues, providing information and/or direction to other sources.
  • Direct movement of students entering and exiting the cafeteria.
  • Monitor execution of student duties – table washing and picking up trash.
  • Create seating chart of students for daily attendance and emergencies.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
