This role is responsible for preparing food using standardized recipes and techniques, ensuring food quality and timely preparation. The position involves maintaining a clean and sanitary kitchen environment, proper food storage, and accurate record-keeping of food usage and temperatures. Serving correct food portions, adhering to sanitation standards, and merchandising food are key aspects. The role also requires fostering a positive team environment, reporting unsafe conditions, and interacting professionally with students, faculty, and administration. Driving a company vehicle may be necessary, along with performing other assigned duties. The job requires a high school diploma or GED, completion of annual Louisiana Department of Education Professional Standards Training, and Phase I training within the first year. Previous school cafeteria experience is preferred. Required skills include oral and written English, basic math, interpersonal, delegation, motivation, and supervisory skills. Knowledge of kitchen operations, hygiene, safety, food handling, storage, temperatures, portion sizes, and child nutrition policies is essential. The ability to learn computer applications and operate basic cafeteria equipment is also necessary.
