About The Position

The City of Elk River is seeking customer service and hospitality minded candidates for the position of Cafe Worker at our Community Event Center. This role involves preparing and selling food and beverage items, handling money, cleaning work and dining areas and equipment, and serving the public. It is considered a great start for individuals pursuing a career in the food or hospitality industry. The position requires candidates to work weekly hours starting in the afternoon, along with weekend shifts.

Requirements

  • Experience handling money.
  • Experience dealing with the public.
  • Ability to keep accurate records.
  • Ability to work independently and assume responsibilities with minimal direct supervision.
  • Skill to communicate effectively with a variety of groups.
  • Ability to operate a cash register, accurately count and record cash received.
  • Ability to present a positive and professional image of the City to the public.
  • Ability to follow all City safety policies.
  • Must be able to be on your feet for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, and kneel and to perform custodial duties.
  • Must be able to lift 20 pounds from floor to waist and have the ability to carry it over 25 feet.
  • Must be able to lift 10 pounds over head.
  • Must be able to climb a step ladder.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares and sells food and beverage items.
  • Handles money and makes change.
  • Cleans work and dining areas and equipment.
  • Serves the public.
  • Provides customer service.
  • Maintains and secures facilities and equipment.
  • Prepares and serves food to customers in a polite and professional manner.
  • Performs routine cleaning of equipment.
  • Notifies Facility Maintenance Manager of any repairs and/or maintenance requiring attention from a service contractor.
  • Monitors and maintains security of the facilities when working.
  • Rings up sales, receipts payments, gives change, etc.
  • Maintains change/refund fund in accordance with jurisdiction.
  • Coordinates the receipt and money.
  • Performs other essential job duties.
  • Ensures regular and timely work attendance.
  • Follows all safety procedures.
  • Participates in safety training.
  • Follows all policies and procedures.
