About The Position

Open City at The National Cathedral (OCNC) is seeking a personable, well-organized, and communicative Café Counter Person (CCP) to join their team. OCNC is a bustling coffeehouse/café offering a variety of food items, specialty coffee, and non-alcoholic beverages. CCPs are cross-trained to perform all café functions and must share the company's Core Values. The role involves guest service, order management, product knowledge and preparation, operations and cleanliness, and teamwork.

Requirements

  • Excellent oral communication skills in English are mandatory.
  • Must be organized and proficient at multitasking.
  • Strong ability to learn and memorize is necessary, particularly regarding menu knowledge.
  • Must thrive and work effectively under pressure.
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in the Hospitality or Restaurant industry is highly advantageous.
  • Specific Barista experience is a significant asset.
  • A High School degree is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Greet, assist, and anticipate the needs of all guests quickly and courteously.
  • Accurately take food and beverage orders and process payments.
  • Ensure guests have an enjoyable experience from arrival to departure.
  • Maintain detailed knowledge of all menu items, including key ingredients, common allergens, and pairing suggestions.
  • Assist with the preparation of both beverages and food items.
  • Run orders out to guest tables.
  • Pre-bus and bus all tables.
  • Constantly maintain a clean, safe work environment and follow all good food safety practices.
  • Assist with dishwashing and trash removal.
  • Perform assigned Running Sidework and Closing Sidework duties.
  • Work well with others and promote an environment where meaningful connections can be built.
  • Perform additional tasks or duties as directed by the Manager on Duty.
