About The Position

Come join our CAFE TEAM at the Hamilton Marketplace in Novato! (This is a part-time position with the possibility of full-time.) RUSTIC BAKERY has been making and serving organic handmade baked goods since 2005. We operate five popular cafes in Marin and have a wholesale production division making flatbread crackers, cookies and crisps in Petaluma. We strive for locally sourced ingredients of the highest quality when making our products and the same goes for our people. We're looking for individuals with a love of artisan products, who want to bring their very best and be part of a fresh baked, locally sourced, fast rising company. The Cashier is responsible for efficient, fast-paced work in a high-volume Cafe environment. This position requires heavy guest interaction and excellent guest service skills. A positive attitude in all situations is required.

Requirements

A passion for creating a great customer service experience
Must be able to work as a supportive team member
Exceptional communication skills in English
Ability to process information/merchandise using a POS system
Ability to learn and operate Cafe equipment (e.g. espresso machine)
High accuracy rate in completing customer orders and ringing up sales in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
Willingness to maintain a clean, healthy, and safe working environment
Must be available to work a varied schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays
Customer service experience in a food and beverage establishment or retail setting
Must provide a Food Handlers Certificate within 30 days of employment

Responsibilities

Warmly welcomes customers, takes orders and rings up sales.
Assists guests in a friendly manner, providing answers and handling purchases, exchanges, gift cards, and special orders.
Responds to and resolves customer concerns or complaints.
Learns the details of menu items and promotes and recommends items to customers.
Prepares and serves food items such as soups, sandwiches, and pastries, and a variety of hot and cold beverages.
Prepares and packages To-Go orders.
Handles cash and credit cards with accuracy. Reconciles all cash and currency.
Cleans all work areas, guest areas and equipment/tools to maintain a sanitary environment.
Stocks shelves in a timely manner as product gets low and maintains a neat and orderly appearance.
Opens and/or closes the Cafe as scheduled.
Follows all company policies and procedures and works in a safe manner.
Cross trains and assists in other areas of the café as needed.
