About The Position

The Barista sells and creates Starbucks coffee beverages according to Starbucks standards, providing caring hospitality and exceptional customer service through product knowledge. The role includes preparing and presenting food and beverages, maintaining work areas and equipment to company and Health Department standards, and following Starbucks service, merchandising, and station procedures. Schedules include weekend shifts and may include day, evening, weekend, and holiday hours; hours depend on business needs and colleague availability.

Requirements

Ability to read and interpret instructional documents, including safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals.
Ability to work a flexible schedule with retail hours, including days, evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods.
May need to reach, crouch, kneel, and stoop.
Frequently lift or move up to 25 lbs.
Use computers and other technology, including handheld equipment and cash registers, and process register transactions.

Nice To Haves

1–2 years of related experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Demonstrate current working knowledge of drip coffee, cold beverage, espresso bar, and pastry stations.
Maintain the work area and equipment according to company and Health Department standards.
Follow Starbucks Simple Service Steps and Magic Selling skills to provide an exceptional customer experience.
Educate, sample, and serve customers food and beverage products.
Follow station-specific duties and responsibilities.
Open and/or close the area using the appropriate checklist and verify completion with the Manager on Duty before leaving.
Maintain PAR stock levels and product presentation standards.
Prepare and present products according to Starbucks recipes while meeting speed-of-service standards.
Follow Starbucks merchandising and signing standards.
Maintain personal hygiene and professional dress according to company, Starbucks, and Health Department standards.
Perform other duties as needed.
Foster acceptance and respect to strengthen relationships and create authentic connections with colleagues, customers, and communities.
