About The Position

Café Standard isn’t your average hotel coffee shop—and we’re not looking for your average café experience. At The Standard Spa, Miami Beach, Café Standard is a casual neighborhood stop where hotel guests, members, locals, and our community can grab a great coffee, something to eat, and a little Standard energy along the way. We’re seeking a warm, energetic, and detail-oriented Café Attendant who can make a great drink, keep things moving, and genuinely connect with the people on the other side of the counter. You’ll prepare beverages, assist guests with food and retail selections, process transactions, keep the café stocked and looking its best, and help create the relaxed, welcoming experience that makes people want to come back. If you can balance speed, personality, consistency, and attention to detail without making hospitality feel scripted, you’ll fit right in.

Requirements

Previous café, barista, restaurant, hotel, retail, or guest service experience preferred.
Previous coffee or beverage preparation experience helpful but not required.
Basic knowledge of coffee and beverage preparation preferred.
Ability and willingness to learn Café Standard recipes, products, and preparation standards.
Previous experience using a POS system preferred.
Strong guest service and interpersonal skills.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to confidently engage guests.
Strong organizational, multitasking, and prioritization abilities.
Ability to maintain speed and accuracy during high-volume periods.
Strong attention to cleanliness, presentation, and product quality.
Ability to read, understand, and consistently follow recipes, instructions, and established procedures.
Ability to work independently while also contributing to a team environment.
Dependable, punctual, and accountable.
Excellent command of English; additional languages are a plus.
Flexible availability, including early mornings, weekends, holidays, and peak business periods.
Required food handling and responsible alcohol service certifications must be maintained in accordance with applicable regulations and company requirements.
Ability to stand and work on feet continuously for extended periods, including shifts of 8 hours or more.
Frequent walking, bending, kneeling, reaching, stretching, and repetitive movement.
Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 40 pounds.
Ability to safely handle hot beverages, glassware, food products, café equipment, and supplies.
Ability to grasp, turn, seize, and hold objects securely throughout the shift.
Ability to perform repetitive hand and wrist movements associated with beverage preparation and POS operation.
Ability to safely navigate café, kitchen, storage, and Food & Beverage service areas.

Anticipate guest needs and provide assistance without waiting to be asked.
Respond promptly and professionally to guest concerns and involve Management when additional assistance is needed.
Maintain The Standard’s service expectations while allowing personality and individuality to come through naturally.
Prepare and serve coffee, espresso-based beverages, teas, specialty drinks, and other Café Standard beverages according to established recipes.
Ensure ingredients and products are fresh, properly stored, labeled, and ready for service.
Prepare and present applicable food and grab-and-go items according to established standards.
Maintain strong knowledge of all Café Standard food, coffee, beverage, and packaged retail offerings.
Confidently guide guests through menu options and make recommendations based on their preferences.
Identify natural opportunities to enhance the guest experience through additional food, beverage, or retail selections without creating a pressured sales experience.
Maintain awareness of relevant Food & Beverage offerings throughout the property to assist guests with questions and recommendations.
Accurately enter all guest orders into the designated POS system.
Process cash, credit cards, room charges, and other approved payment methods accurately.
Verify order and check accuracy before completing transactions.
Follow all established cash-handling and financial control procedures.
Maintain accountability for assigned cash bank when applicable.
Immediately report transaction discrepancies, POS issues, or payment concerns to Management.
Provide receipts and complete transactions efficiently while maintaining guest engagement.
Complete all opening procedures and ensure Café Standard is fully prepared before service begins.
Conduct daily inventory checks and maintain established product and supply par levels.
Restock coffee, beverages, food items, cups, lids, napkins, utensils, condiments, retail products, and other supplies throughout the shift.
Rotate products appropriately and monitor expiration dates and freshness.
Maintain organized storage, refrigeration, shelving, and back-of-house areas.
Complete all required closing procedures and prepare the café for the following shift.
Maintain a clean, organized, and visually appealing Café Standard throughout the entire shift.
Continuously clean and sanitize the bar top, counters, espresso station, equipment, shelving, refrigerators, and guest-facing areas.
Clear and clean guest areas as needed to maintain an inviting café environment.
Wash, sanitize, and properly store café tools and equipment.
Remove trash and maintain waste areas according to established procedures.
Immediately address spills and other cleanliness or safety concerns.
Complete assigned pre-shift, post-shift, daily, weekly, and monthly side work.
Maintain all areas according to The Standard’s cleanliness, sanitation, and presentation expectations.
Work collaboratively with Food & Beverage Managers, Culinary, Lido Bayside, Bartenders, Servers, Runners, Bussers, and other hotel departments.
Support teammates during high-volume periods to maintain efficient service.
Assist other Food & Beverage outlets, including Lido Bayside, when operational needs require.
Perform additional duties as assigned based on business and operational needs.
Follow all The Standard policies, SOPs, recipes, service standards, and departmental procedures.
Maintain established uniform, grooming, personal hygiene, and professional appearance standards.
Follow all food safety, sanitation, and responsible alcohol service requirements.
Maintain required Safe Food Handling and Responsible Alcohol Service certifications; training access will be provided when needed.
Follow proper procedures for food storage, labeling, temperature control, cleaning, and sanitation.
Properly and safely operate café equipment.
Identify and immediately report equipment malfunctions, maintenance concerns, safety hazards, product quality issues, or other operational concerns to Management.
Maintain punctuality and reliable attendance in accordance with posted schedules.
