THE ROLE The Café Associate is responsible for providing quick and efficient service to customers in a variety of duties relating to a fast-casual food service experience. Some duties include recording transactions, processing payment with a point-of-sale system; receiving, executing and delivering vertical catering orders; stocking counters and maintaining sanitation standards of café counter, storage areas and in the seating area, maintaining and stocking retail sundry display.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent qualification
  • Prior experience working in café-/concession-style establishment
  • Excellent guest service skills
  • Maintain a professional, polished appearance and high standards of personal hygiene in accordance with company grooming and dress code policies, including guidelines related to visible tattoos, facial and body piercings (limited to one per ear), and non-natural hair colors
  • Basic knowledge of food preparations, service standards, guest relations and etiquette
  • Willingness and drive to exceed the guest expectations
  • Ability to read, speak and write in English and communicate with management and guests
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environment
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations
  • Ability to work extended hours and flexible shifts including mornings, nights and holidays, and weekends
  • Ability to maintain regular and consistent attendance and punctuality, with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team setting during set up and service
  • Sufficient mobility to be able to bend, squat, and reach
  • Ability to transport up to 50 lbs. on a continuous basis
  • Ability to be on feet for extended hours
  • Must have a working email to communicate with your managers as well a working telephone number (always kept up to date)
  • Ability to consistently practice safe work habits
  • Ability to follow all safety policies and procedures and regulations and complete company-wide safety training as well as additional job specific training

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that the correct opening procedure is followed: all areas of the café are prepared, tidy and secure, coffee and food service are ready for the day’s service
  • Provide excellent customer service to guests by being knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the café’s menu of products—including allergy and dietary restrictions
  • Accurately and properly record all transactions via the point-of-sale system
  • Collect the proper payment for food and beverage items via payment card
  • Greet guests by name, when possible, and upsell based on proactively determining guest needs
  • Receive, execute and deliver orders for the vertical catering program while ensuring guest satisfaction
  • Ensure that all food and beverage cabinets and coolers are stocked and tidy to deliver a full-service experience to every guest
  • Ensure that all condiments and paper goods are stocked and cleaned daily
  • Ensure food is served at the correct temperature and portion size
  • Maintain a clean and well-organized workspace allowing colleagues to locate resources and product as needed
  • Assist in the setup, execution, and clean-up of any Café demonstrations and presentations
  • Ensure that café seating areas are cleaned and wiped throughout the day and that the floor is clean, swept, and mopped throughout service as needed
  • Ensure all retail items area appropriately stocked and maintained
  • Perform general cleaning tasks to adhere to health and safety standards
  • Assist with daily, weekly and monthly inventory as needed
  • Attend and participate in mandatory staffing meetings and training programs
  • Ensure that the correct closing procedure is followed: all areas of the café are to be left clean, tidy and secure, restocked and ready for the next day’s service
  • Complete all other duties as assigned by supervisor
