About The Position

The Cafe Assistant Manager is responsible for assisting the Café Manager in daily operations of the Café in a manner that will contribute to achieving profit objectives, guest satisfaction, and a friendly and enthusiastic work environment for all team members. Support the Café Manager to ensure compliance with prescribed standards in the areas of guest relations, labor costs, paper costs, restaurant safety and sanitation, as well as ensuring compliance with established food standards, food quality, preparation, and production.

Requirements

  • Strong customer service skills with at least 1-3 years restaurant experience in the front and back of the house
  • Results driven with strong organizational, time management, and written and verbal communication skills
  • Creative, flexible, and adaptable to change
  • Proven ability to effectively deal with conflict
  • Experience effectively delegating and training team members
  • Must be computer literate
  • Available to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays
  • May be required to work in excess of 40 hours per week periodically as business needs require
  • May be required to attend meetings or training sessions outside normal work schedule
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs, stand for 8 hours at a time, lift, bend, twist, reach, kneel, squat, and climb stairs
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal health and sanitation laws with Serv Safe certification a plus

Responsibilities

  • Support the Café team and overall operations to ensure a positive guest experience with innovative, high quality food options
  • Process guest orders, prepare and serve food and beverages according to quality and sanitation standards
  • Effectively perform functions necessary to the opening and closing of the café including back office tasks
  • Facilitate effective onboarding and training as directed by the Café Manager
  • Serve as a role model by utilizing G.U.E.S.T. guidelines with guests and Module 9 Standards of Conduct with team members
  • Utilize G.U.E.S.T. Guidelines and training resources to educate team on product, improve selling skills and achieve business goals
  • Resolve guest problems or complaints by determining optimal solutions
  • Help manage the Café revenue and operating expenses by monitoring and managing expenditures to be within budget, and adjusting to current business trends
  • Assist with purchasing in accordance with established inventory levels and budget
  • Provide operations support to ensure compliance with all legal requirements and company policies and procedures regarding safety, quality, sanitation, maintenance, and food safety, communicating any issues to the Café Manager
