About The Position

The Cafe Assistant Lead is responsible for performing all Cafe restaurant functions, maintaining working knowledge of recipes and prepared foods, and ensuring adherence to food safety guidelines. This role involves preparing food and drinks, managing cleaning schedules, and making purchasing decisions for inventory. The Assistant Lead also assists in training new associates and maintaining an orderly and clean workspace. The position requires the ability to interpret documents and work an assigned schedule that may include varied hours, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Requirements

  • High school education
  • 1-3 years of related experience or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to sit, stand, bend at the waist, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, walk, push/pull, lift, talk, and hear with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all Café restaurant functions, which may include deli line, barista, grill, ice cream, baked goods, fudge, and other duties as assigned per Café ASL
  • Maintain working knowledge of Café recipes and prepared foods
  • Follow all food safety guidelines by Scheels, State, and Local Ordinances
  • Ensure all products are received and stored according to Standard Operating Guidelines
  • Prepare different types of food, drinks, and ingredients
  • Ensure Scheels Cashier Guidelines are followed as it pertains to Café registers
  • Manage and support side work, stocking, daily and detailed cleaning schedules, and opening and closing procedures
  • Make decisions about the purchasing of inventory, the arrangement of merchandise, and sales trends to meet or exceed Scheels' standards
  • Assist in training all new associates using kitchen tools, mentor checklists, and Standard Operating Guidelines
  • Maintain an orderly and exceptionally clean appearance of personal workspace and surrounding areas
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to work assigned schedule, which may include varied hours, evenings, weekends, and holidays
