Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid Connecticut driver’s license
- Reliable personal vehicle and current car insurance
- Ability to stand for extended periods and work in a busy café environment
- Successful completion of background checks and required training
Nice To Haves
- 1–2 years of experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities or challenging behaviors preferred
- 1–2 years of barista or café/food service experience preferred
- Strong communication skills and ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
Responsibilities
- Coach and support individuals as they learn and perform café-related tasks
- Assist with fulfilling customer orders, paying close attention to preferences (dairy, sugar ratios, order accuracy)
- Model and teach proper café operations, including food prep, beverage preparation, register use, and customer service
- Supervise individuals to ensure safety, engagement, and positive workplace behavior
- Promote independence through encouragement, consistency, and positive reinforcement
- Maintain clean and organized workspaces
- Perform short-order cooking and café transactions as needed
- Document daily accomplishments, goals, and observations
- Communicate regularly with supervisors and program staff
- Transport individuals using a personal vehicle, following all driving and safety standards
- Perform other duties as assigned
