About The Position

Divergent is seeking a senior technical architect for its Design and Engineering Systems organization. The role designs and implements industrial-strength, interactive 3D desktop and web-based CAE applications, building a scalable, web-enabled desktop application foundation that reduces development risk for the broader team. The architect will guide the design and implementation of the DES suite and GPU job architecture, while providing hands-on technical leadership and mentoring engineers. The role partners with DES and Platform IPT leadership to align application architecture with long-term computational-design goals. The position is onsite. Candidates must be able to lawfully access information and technology subject to U.S. export controls. The company is considering candidates at E07 (Principal Engineer), E08 (Sr. Principal Engineer), and E09 (Technical Fellow) levels.

Requirements

  • Sr. Principal-level experience in desktop software architecture.
  • Deep, demonstrated experience creating high-performing, interactive 3D desktop applications; CAE, PLM, or engineering software experience is preferred.
  • Proven ability to architect complex systems and delegate implementation across engineering teams.
  • Strong understanding of graphics and 3D rendering pipelines, UI architecture, and desktop software engineering.
  • Ability to lawfully access information and technology subject to U.S. export controls.
  • Familiarity with Siemens NX, Teamcenter, and CAE desktop ecosystems.

Nice To Haves

  • 10+ years in industrial or CAE application development.
  • Experience in GPU compute and scheduling.
  • Experience integrating topology optimization, computational geometry, or CAE solvers into interactive desktop tools.
  • A track record of building software used by mechanical or research engineers at scale.

Responsibilities

  • Architect and design high-performing, easy-to-use, interactive 3D desktop and web CAE applications for the DES suite.
  • Architect scalable GPU job architecture for clustered GPUs.
  • Implement core application frameworks and delegate development through the broader engineering team.
  • Drive faster creation of complex desktop applications through hands-on technical leadership and foresight.
  • Ensure industrial-grade quality, usability, and performance across desktop tools.
  • Align architecture with DES organizational strategy and prevent risk from fragmented ownership.
  • Mentor and guide engineers on desktop-application best practices, addressing the team’s expertise gap.
  • Partner with DES and Platform IPT leadership to integrate architecture with long-term computational-design goals.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary, equity plan, and discretionary results-based incentive bonus opportunities.
  • Paid vacation, sick time, and company holidays, including a year-end shutdown.
