The CAE Engineer supports piston structures and durability within Global Virtual Engineering. The role turns engineering questions, requirements, and failure modes into physics-based analysis and clear design decisions. The engineer independently executes moderate-scope work, resolves non-routine technical issues, and partners with program teams, design-release engineers, suppliers, and other virtual-analysis specialists. The position supports earlier, higher-confidence decisions on piston and cranktrain hardware by combining structural CAE, engineering judgment, risk-based evaluation, and reusable capability development. It contributes to production program support while improving standard work, automation, and the team's ability to detect and reduce design risk. The engineer leads piston structural and durability evaluations from problem definition through recommendation, assesses component performance under relevant operating conditions, selects suitable CAE fidelity, investigates technical issues and failure mechanisms, and connects analysis to requirements, DFMEA, and qualification evidence. The role also produces traceable reports and decision packages, improves standard work and automation, supports benchmarking and method development, and shares expertise with colleagues and cross-functional partners. This is a hybrid role based at Global HQ in Warren, Michigan, with an expectation to report to the location at least three times per week or at a frequency directed by the business or manager. Travel is required for less than 25% of the role. Relocation benefits may be available to eligible candidates. The position is subject to export control restrictions and requires the successful candidate to be a U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, asylee, or refugee).
