About The Position

The Center for Academic Excellence (CAE) is seeking an Academic Tutor to conduct tutoring and study sessions for undergraduate students. This role is ideal for students with excellent communication skills and strong academic performance. The tutor will maintain a positive and effective learning environment, work independently, and maintain confidentiality and punctuality. Responsibilities include providing academic support, conducting face-to-face tutoring sessions, setting goals, assisting student-athletes, executing plans from the Athletic Coordinator, documenting student progress, maintaining records, assisting with marketing and learning materials, creating content, representing the CAE professionally, interacting with faculty and staff, attending events, maintaining a positive mindset, respecting student confidentiality, and remaining open to evolving needs of the CAE.

Requirements

  • Current undergraduate student in good academic standing with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher preferred.
  • Completion of relevant coursework in subject area to be tutored.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Connecteam, Canvas, and social media is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a positive and effective learning environment during shifts
  • Work independently and effectively
  • Maintain confidentiality, be punctual, communicate changes in work schedule in advance, dress appropriately for the work environment
  • Effectively communicate skills and availability in application materials
  • Provide academic support to students throughout the semester
  • Conduct face-to-face tutoring sessions with individuals and groups
  • Set realistic goals for tutoring sessions and follow up on progress
  • Assist student-athletes with academic requirements
  • Execute specific plans created by the Athletic Coordinator
  • Document and submit students' progress to CAE staff
  • Maintain accurate records and data after each session
  • Assist with developing marketing and learning materials
  • Create and submit videos, print materials, and online content
  • Professionally represent the CAE
  • Interact with faculty, staff, and campus constituents
  • Represent CAE at various events
  • Maintain a positive mindset and respect student confidentiality
  • Remain open to evolving needs of the CAE
