The Counselor provides individual, group, and family counseling to women receiving residential substance use disorder treatment in the Harriet Tubman Program. The role supports clients throughout recovery by conducting assessments, developing individualized treatment plans, facilitating therapeutic interventions, maintaining timely clinical documentation, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary treatment team. The position serves clients who may have complex substance use, behavioral health, family, housing, and other psychosocial needs. The Counselor provides treatment at the appropriate ASAM level of care, monitors client progress, responds to crises and behavioral or safety concerns, and supports clients in addressing recovery barriers and maintaining long-term stability. The role also coordinates with community providers and referral resources to support continuity of care and transitions from residential treatment. Candidates must have a CADC or obtain certification within two years of hire. The position requires moderate physical activity, which may include lifting 25–50 pounds and extended periods of standing or walking. There is minimal exposure to physical risk. The role also carries an occupational risk of TB exposure due to extensive community and patient contact; annual TB testing is required, subject to documented medical contraindications or religious objections. Employees who decline testing must wear a mask when deemed necessary.
