About The Position

The CAD Textile Designer is responsible for the creation of prints and patterns for all product categories under the direction of the CAD Manager and Design Directors. Artwork is created manually through drawing and hand painting, or via Computer Aided Design software including Kaledo (all modules), Photoshop, and Illustrator. Basis of prints can be original illustrations or existing/purchased artwork. CAD Textile Designer partners with team members in the execution of seasonal design projects to create artwork for products exclusive to Lands' End.

Requirements

  • Expert in Computer Design Programs. Adobe Suite Programs are essential, Kaledo is preferred but not required.
  • Expert Design skills: creating original artwork, repeats, scales, textures knits & weaves.
  • Expert color sense.
  • Strong understanding of textiles and fabric construction.
  • Strong understanding of printing processes and textile manufacturing.
  • Familiarity of MIRO work space.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work in a team environment.
  • Must be organized and self-motivated, with a strong attention to details.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent collaboration and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree Design or relevant field or equivalent experience
  • 4-7 years of experience in the Print/Pattern field.

Nice To Haves

  • Kaledo is preferred but not required.
  • Advanced degree (e.g., Master’s) preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Research print trends and collect materials for seasonal inspiration and product direction.
  • Collaborate on seasonal concept prints in support of the Concept Team under the direction of the Sr CAD Manager and Design Directors.
  • Build out the Seasonal Concept Room. This will consist of printing, trimming and prepping tools for the presentation: CADs in correct sizes & colorways with identifying style & color numbers attached. There will be extended work hours in the 2 weeks leading up to the Seasonal Concept meetings.
  • Make record of all prints in Final Concept presentation post Concept meeting. Recreate presentation on MIRO Board and print copies for CAD team boards.
  • Collaborate with Apparel Designers to create additional artwork for divisional needs post concept by changing layouts, color, size, rotation or placement of elements as requested for specific fabrications/product categories.
  • Develop all colorways for artwork using Lands' End seasonal palettes. Print and/or post to Miro as needed. Communicate to CFPs as needed. Maintain divisional palettes.
  • Anticipate, identify and problem solve production issues to ensure design intent is preserved.
  • Once artwork is approved by Design partners, export to Sharepoint so that CFPs can share with our vendors.
  • Contribute to comments of strike off execution as requested by the color team.
  • Communicate and build relationships with cross functional partners (Design, PD, Merch).
  • Maintain an organized personal workspace.
  • Maintain an organized MIRO workspace – this is where you will collaborate with your cross functional design partners.
  • Help maintain the Epson printers.
  • Attend milestone meetings for print/pattern. Articulate design direction and point of view. Present in place of CAD Team Manager as needed.
  • Attend weekly divisional meetings as needed.
  • Develop and coach assistant and associate CAD designers.
