About The Position

Moffatt & Nichol is seeking an Entry-Level CAD Technician to join their Honolulu office. This role is an entry-level contributor to the Design & Drafting team, responsible for producing basic technical drawings and files under close supervision. The individual will learn core CAD/BIM tools, drafting standards, and file management conventions. The role focuses on building foundational proficiency and reducing the need for supervision over time, with limited independent judgment expected initially. Requirements

  • High school diploma or technical diploma required
  • 0–2 years of drafting/CAD experience
  • Familiarity with CAD software and basic 3D model viewing
  • Working understanding of company CAD/BIM standards and best practices
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and documented drafting standards
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn
  • Effective task-level communication with supervisors and team members
  • All new hires will be required to successfully complete and pass a pre-employment (post offer) background check in compliance with NIST 800-171

Responsibilities

  • Delivers requested drawings and files to support the project team
  • Applies basic drafting and modeling skills using approved CAD/BIM tools
  • Views, navigates, and measures 2D and 3D models as directed
  • Follows established CAD/BIM and graphics standards on all assigned work
  • Receives corrections from supervisors and implements them accurately
  • Understands and applies correct file structure, naming conventions, and plotting workflows
  • Communicates task status to supervisors and senior team members
  • Asks clarifying questions when instructions or requirements are unclear
  • Supports the project team by responding promptly to drawing/file requests
  • Builds proficiency with company CAD/BIM standards, tools, and best practices
  • Seeks guidance from supervisors when encountering unfamiliar tools or requirements
