About The Position

Barnard Construction Company, Inc. is a heavy-civil construction company based in Bozeman, Montana, with projects across North America. The CAD Technician drafts and produces survey documents, drawings, and models to support construction activities. The role prepares survey and machine-control files, builds 2-D and 3-D models from contract documents, and performs quantity takeoffs and as-built records. It requires experience with Autodesk Civil 3D and survey data management, along with the ability to organize and interpret survey information for construction records and quantity tracking. Heavy civil construction and survey experience are preferred.

Requirements

At least 3 years of experience utilizing Autodesk Civil 3D.
Experience in earthwork modeling; familiarity with alignments and profile design; and knowledge of mapping and coordinate systems.
Experience with quantity surveys, as-built drawings, and layout.
Strong attention to detail and quality.
Strong communication skills.
Survey data management skills, including downloading data from instruments, storing, filing, and processing it into required formats for analysis and tracking completed work.
Proactive problem-solving skills.
Ability to work with Trimble Access, Trimble SCS900, Trimble Business Center (TBC), AutoCAD Civil 3D, and Microsoft Excel.
Ability to organize and interpret survey data for construction project as-built recording.
Ability to use survey data to produce records of quantities of work achieved.
Ability to review and interpret drawings and specifications.
