About The Position

AECOM-DBS JV is seeking a CAD Technician to support the Chicago Department of Water’s multibillion Capital Improvement Program (CIP). This position will represent DWM with oversight to various service providers in completing a range of CIP projects that include planning, designing, and construction oversight. The first 90 days of employment will be based on-site at the Jardine Water Purification Plant, 1000 E Ohio St, Chicago, IL 60611. This initial on-site period is designed to support onboarding, relationship building, and a strong understanding of the project and team. Following the first 90 days, the position will offer work-from-home flexibility.

Requirements

  • At least one year of experience or technical training using MicroStation and/or AutoCAD.
  • High school diploma required.
  • Ability to interface and collaborate effectively with designers, engineers, project managers, and other team members.
  • Strong organization and communication skills.
  • Meticulous and have a knack for quality.
  • Proficient with business and engineering applications.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with both MicroStation and AutoCAD platforms.
  • Additional technical education.
  • Familiarity with Primera.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

  • Working in CAD, preparing and updating drawings based on engineering and/or field markups for designers and engineers.
  • Supporting water main and water service line projects, preparing drawings and documentation to support the design and delivery of critical water infrastructure.
  • Spending the majority of time drafting, updating, and coordinating drawings in MicroStation within Primera.
  • Supporting the Chicago Department of Water Management’s multi-billion-dollar Capital Improvement Program through AECOM-DBS JV.
  • Responsible for initial drawing setup, maintaining project files, and assisting with file management including scanning, plotting, creating and updating project drawing lists, and general drawing management.
  • Preparing drawings for permits, complying with requirements established by local villages, road and rail authorities, and other applicable agencies.
  • Applying company standards, guidelines, specifications, practices, and procedures when preparing design drawings and archiving CAD files in accordance with company standards.
  • Regularly communicating and coordinating project activities with internal designers, engineers, and project managers.
