About The Position

As a Structural Steel Designer, you will play a vital role in providing design and drafting services utilizing Tekla model-based construction software. Your work will support the engineering, production, and sales staff. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the development of engineering solutions for short to medium span bridge projects for national clients.

Requirements

• Associates degree in Drafting, Engineering, or AutoCAD.
• Ability to accurately read and interpret site plans, with knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in the civil engineering field.
• Strong technical skills, including proficiency in current versions of AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Tekla or related programs.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
• Excellent mathematical skills and demonstrated attention to detail.
• Ability to work collaboratively and adapt to changes, delays, and unexpected events.
• Strong ability to read and interpret documents, technical manuals, site plans, and engineering concepts.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

• Civil Engineering, architectural, or construction experience preferred.
• Experience in the steel industry preferred.

Responsibilities

• Utilize custom programs to independently create detailed drawings and, when necessary, bills of material for the manufacture and installation of our products.
• Review design information, site plans, and manuals to determine critical dimensions for designs.
• Utilize applications such as Tekla, AutoCAD, and Excel to complete drawings within project deadlines.
• Submit and review drawings with peers as needed.
• Collaborate with the design staff to determine design requirements, modifications, and resolve issues.
• Efficiently produce accurate drawings for review and approval by the design staff.
• Prioritize assigned projects based on due dates.
• Develop and maintain standard and custom details for all product families.
• Serve as an interface between commercial operations, fabrication plant managers, customer service representatives, and structural engineers when necessary.
• Occasionally visit manufacturing facilities or product installation sites.
