About The Position

The CAD Technician II operates CAD computer system including creating, updating, and modifying engineering models and drawings to support Operations and Process Engineering. Provides support to Engineering department as required for research, new product development projects, or process improvements in compliance with LifeNet Health (LNH), Quality Systems (QS)/Regulatory Affairs (RA) standards and organization procedures. Helps to maintain the intellectual property of LifeNet Health through regular maintenance of data vaults. Requirements

  • Associate's degree or Vocational Training/Certificate in CAD or related field OR equivalent combination of education and related work experience
  • Four (4) years' work experience involving use of CAD software or equivalent educational achievement in related field
  • Proficient in model development including assembly and BOM configuration, management, property analysis, dimensioning, and interference.
  • Knowledgeable of drafting principles, practices, methods, and technique.
  • Knowledgeable of prototyping methods such as 3D printing and rapid prototyping.
  • Ability to facilitate design iteration through prototype testing.
  • Familiar with various raw material properties for plastics and stainless steels as well as manufacturing processes including WEDM, CNC machining, turning plastic injection molding, thermoforming, and plating.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate and build relationships with all professionals at different levels within the organization.
  • Ability to perform tasks thoroughly and with care; checks work to ensure high degree of accuracy/ completeness and early/ on-time delivery.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office: PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple competing priorities and manage time/ workload.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize and juggle multiple time sensitive projects, multi-task, identify project interdependencies and potential risks pitfalls.
  • Ability to manage individual activities to meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of the practical application of engineering principles to develop process and product solutions.
  • Uses mathematics and engineering principles to solve problems.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field.
  • One (1) year of design experience in engineering/ design development or manufacturing environment; experience with SolidWorks.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in brainstorming and prototyping efforts to address design challenges.
  • Create models from written instruction, sketches, drawings, CAD files or verbal direction from engineers and management.
  • Organizes hands-on construction and testing of prototypes including coordinating with outside vendors and internal stakeholders.
  • Complies with LifeNet Health intellectual property handbook for information, designs, and testing.
  • Produces SolidWorks designs, assemblies, drawings, and bills of materials (BOMs) to meet engineering needs for fixtures, gauges, tooling, and equipment.
  • Routes drawings for review.
  • Manipulates basic CAD files.
  • Maintains design and development of records in accordance with LNH Change Control including management of the Product Data Management (PDM) vault, Sterile Processing-Production Support (PSD) database, and Enterprise Resource Planning (SAP) database.
  • Supports sourcing, fabrication, and assembly of production level designs through internal and external suppliers.
  • Supports the engineering department with any testing and documentation support.
  • Leads or supports resolution of equipment related issues resulting from equipment obsolescence, supply shortages, maintenance/reliability concerns, ergonomic challenges and performance/quality investigations.
  • Maintains basic knowledge of manufacturing technologies related to the fabrication of metals and plastics to ensure Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA).
