About The Position

Matthews International, a company with over 175 years of success and stability is currently looking for a CAD Operator/Designer to join our Gibraltar Mausoleum team. As a global leader in memorialization, we take pride in our craftsmanship and commitment to quality — and it all starts with our people. The CAD Operator/Designer will utilize AutoCAD to provide support to our pre-construction design staff and clients by producing clear and technically accurate drawings based on design specifications. This is a first-shift position with hours from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Initial training will be conducted onsite, with the potential to transition to a hybrid schedule upon completion.

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school in Architectural Drafting or related field
  • 4+ years progressive AutoCAD experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Occasional travel either locally, nationally, and/or internationally may be required
  • Proficient with design software such as AutoCAD, Sketchup, V-Ray, Adobe Creative Suite, etc.
  • Ability to perform 2D drafting and 3D modeling
  • High degree of proficiency MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Publisher), Outlook & Internet applications
  • Strong analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving, presentation, budgeting, project management (from conception to completion), & planning skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills (including analysis, interpretation, & reasoning)
  • Solid understanding and application of mathematical concepts
  • Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with peers and colleagues across the organization, as well as, internal and external clients
  • Ability to work well autonomously and within a team in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment.
  • Ability to work with and influence peers and senior management.
  • Self-motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines and reporting
  • Ability to work overtime as necessary

Responsibilities

  • Works independently using AutoCAD to create and modify drawings, sketches and diagrams for use by other departments and clients.
  • Attends project meetings and converses with other subject matter experts to interpret design concepts, determine nature and type of required detailed working drawings, and coordinates work with others.
  • Compiles data, computes quantities, determines materials needed.
  • Verifies work for accuracy, completeness of work, and compliance to standards.
  • Sets up and maintains an organized file system for projects.
  • Communicates with internal and external personnel regarding new and revised drawings.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
