About The Position

The Designer/Draftsman is responsible for the supervision of projects relating to design, drafting and storage of drawings and files, and must comply with all safety, quality, and housekeeping standards.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; four to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience in design and drafting techniques.
  • Basic mechanical knowledge: Press fits/slip fits, Tolerancing, Bearings, Keys/Keyways, Fasteners, clips, retaining rings, etc., Threads, O-ring design and o-ring groove design, Basic industrial materials: common steel grades, common aluminum grades.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write basic reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with oral and written communication including telephone conversation.
  • Ability to operate PC computer, using word processing, and email software applications.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Must be willing to work in a team environment and consider all perspectives.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor or SolidWorks a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for design and development of tools, fixtures, gauges and production floor plans, and developing the machine shop drawings for tooling, fixture and gauge manufacture.
  • Responsible adherence to the policies, procedures and instructions of the TS16949 quality system.
