About The Position

This role involves turning lean concepts into crisp 3D models and fabrication-ready drawings. The CAD Designer will partner with sales, operations, engineering, and customers to finalize details, and ensure shop-readiness through peer reviews, BOM/ECN updates, redline/as-built incorporation, and clear basic electrical layouts. The position requires the development and maintenance of 3D models and detailed production and manufacturing drawings for projects and products, including creating 3D progress models from conceptual designs and minimal information in conjunction with design and project teams, as well as customers.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years project/product design experience.
  • Knowledge base in CAD software (Inventor, Revit, AutoCAD, Plant 3D preferred).
  • Experience incorporating engineered bill of materials into a 3D model.
  • Experience with redline incorporation and product development process.
  • Regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer, telephone, and a variety of office equipment.
  • Occasionally may need to reach, stoop, or kneel.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision requirements due to computer work.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor/Associate degree in a technical field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Development and maintenance of 3D models for projects and products.
  • Development and maintenance of product drawings for fabrication, purchasing, and assembly.
  • Development and maintenance of basic electrical layout drawings (one-lines, schematics, layouts, etc.).
  • Peer-review other designers’ work for manufacturability, readability, and formatting.
  • Uphold documentation and design & development standards and practices as well as product/customer specifications.
  • Take input from sales, operations, and customer product engineers to modify, create, or clarify design details to improve the ease of production.
  • Coordinate the creation of fixtures, templates, and other production tools to help gain production efficiencies when available.
  • Utilize engineering “bill of materials” to inform and update the model updating as Engineering Change Notices dictate.
  • Document as-built drawings and incorporate redlines into project and product revisions.
  • Review procurement and shop operations for opportunities to streamline production and to use inventoried material.
  • Other duties as assigned.
