This position requires working among the Drafting Team to create and maintain construction documents used for the process of bidding, permitting, and construction of our Homes and Welcome Home Centers. This position will report to the VP of Operations and collaborate with Project Managers, Purchasing, Engineering, and other members of the Drafting Team. The position requires an ability to multi-task, be detail-oriented, self-sufficient, dependable, ability to cope under pressure, maintain good judgment, eager to learn, and have a professional, supportive attitude.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of Residential Drafting experience preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Strong proficiency in AutoCAD, Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Willingness to learn additional program add-ons for AutoCAD.
  • Knowledge of current Building and ADA codes preferred.
  • Must possess initiative and be highly motivated.
  • Strong organizational skills, detail oriented and ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to meet deadlines while maintaining a professional attitude.
  • Maintain regular attendance and punctuality relative to daily work schedule is required.
  • Strong work ethic, good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Copes well under pressure and can accept constructive feedback.
  • Moderate Regional travel (including overnight trips and flights) may be required.
  • Regular, in-person attendance at Company communities/job sites and offices during regular work hours is an essential function of this job.
  • Requires the ability to work more than eight hours per day in the confined quarters of a construction trailer, the ability to operate a motor vehicle, read plans, climb stairs and ladders, bend, stoop, reach, lift, move and/or carry equipment which may be in excess of 50 pounds.
  • Job may require occasional operation of construction equipment.
  • Finger dexterity may be required to operate a computer keyboard and calculator.

Responsibilities

  • Complete detailed construction document sets in AutoCAD including space plans, material specification and elevation details that will be used for the permitting, bidding and construction of lot specific homes and Welcome Home Centers.
  • Provide elevations and built-in details for Model Homes.
  • Assist with conceptual design, material selections, furniture specification, graphics, etc.
  • Coordinating projects with consultants, engineers, and field associates
  • Attend Model Home frame walks and installations as required.
  • Stay abreast of current building codes and ADA requirements, design trends and practices; attend industry trade shows as needed.
