About The Position

Horsepower Automotive Group (HPAG) is seeking a CAD Designer Lead to join their team in Chandler, Arizona. This role focuses on the design aspect of creating premium, made-in-America bumpers and accessories for off-road vehicles, emphasizing aesthetic appeal and durability. The ideal candidate will turn bold ideas into manufacturable reality, working closely with a prototype engineering team to bring designs from concept to physical products. This position is for individuals who enjoy the design side over hardcore engineering and want to be part of creating the next generation of aftermarket accessories.

Requirements

Strong SolidWorks skills, including managing complex assemblies and creating sheet metal and tubular parts.
3 years of experience designing similar automotive or aerospace products.
Experience with tooling and fixtures, and the ability to translate a 3D model into physical reality.
Working knowledge of machine work and processes for final parts.
Experience collaborating with an engineering team and producing accurate, measured drawings.
A creative mindset paired with the discipline to translate ideas into clean, manufacturable assemblies.
Self-motivated and assertive, comfortable in a fast-paced shop where priorities shift quickly.
A team-first attitude.
Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.

Responsibilities

Create CAD models in SolidWorks daily, from templates, physical parts, or original designs.
Build complex 3D sheet metal and tubular assemblies ready for manufacturing.
Process 3D scans and create scanned mesh models of vehicle data to drive new product development.
Partner with the prototype engineering team to move new products into automation and production.
Take open instructions on part and assembly revisions and implement them.
