About The Position

Horsepower Automotive Group (HPAG) is seeking a CAD Designer Lead to join their team in Chandler, Arizona. This role focuses on the design and aesthetic appeal of premium, made-in-America aftermarket automotive accessories, particularly for off-road vehicles. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of design principles and the ability to translate bold ideas into manufacturable products, with an emphasis on style and durability over hardcore engineering. You will be responsible for the end-to-end R&D design process, working closely with a prototype engineering team to bring designs from concept to physical reality.

Requirements

Strong SolidWorks skills, including managing complex assemblies and creating sheet metal and tubular parts.
3 years of experience designing similar automotive or aerospace products.
Experience with tooling and fixtures, and bringing 3D models into physical reality.
Working knowledge of machine work and processes for final parts.
Experience collaborating with an engineering team and producing accurate, measured drawings.
A creative mindset paired with the discipline to translate ideas into clean, manufacturable assemblies.
Self-motivated and assertive, comfortable in a fast-paced shop where priorities shift quickly.
A team-first attitude.
Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.

Responsibilities

Create CAD models in SolidWorks daily, from templates, physical parts, or original designs.
Build complex 3D sheet metal and tubular assemblies ready for manufacturing.
Process 3D scans and create scanned mesh models of vehicle data to drive new product development.
Partner with the prototype engineering team to move new products into automation and production.
Implement revisions to parts and assemblies based on instructions.
