About The Position

Working under immediate supervision, the CAD Designer I carries out routine to moderately complex drafting assignments with limited latitude for independent judgment. The role prepares layout drawings, detailed designs, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical schematics, parts lists, and tool and gage drawings according to engineering specifications using CAD software. The designer reviews drawings and supporting documentation for adherence to standard practices, analyzes designs, and confers with others to resolve incomplete details. The role also involves physically viewing fixtures and tooling on shop-floor machines to obtain information, submitting final drawings for verification of completeness, clarity, and accuracy, and transferring drawing dimensions from computer to hard copy using peripheral equipment. The position performs routine drafting and design tasks involving the operation and application of Computer-Aided-Design equipment. Work includes preparing drawings from existing concepts, updating lower-complexity drawings, designing or adapting basic mechanical fixtures and tooling, maintaining drawing files, and participating in continuous improvement and 5S activities.
