About The Position

BILT is seeking a CAD Designer 1 for the CAD Operations Team. This individual will be a Solidworks professional, be self-motivated, have a strong work ethic, positive attitude, communicate effectively, give, and take direction well. Located in the Dallas – Ft. Worth (DFW) metroplex near DFW airport and Southlake Town Square, BILT Incorporated is a fast-growing SaaS startup company that is rapidly revolutionizing the interaction customers have with the brands and products they buy. BILT’s 3D interactive Intelligent Instructions® are a unique differentiator that provides a superior customer experience for assembly and installation of products for retail and professional customers. Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Must be able to travel to onsite visits given 2 weeks’ notice.
  • Must be able to get up to speed on BILT best practices within the first week and hit the ground running.
  • Must have 1-4 years of professional experience working in a design for manufacturing environment.
  • Must have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited 2-4-year university or college is desirable in Engineering, or Industrial Design; will consider other education or relevant experience in lieu of formal degree.
  • Must have some experience working with multiple different materials and there manufacturing methods (i.e. wood, plastic, metal)
  • Proficient working on multiple projects with multiple complex tasks from start to finish with tight deadlines.
  • Strong technical capacity with the ability to read and understand manuals and technical documentation.
  • Must understand the difference between parametric modeling and mesh modeling.
  • Professional with Solidworks 3D Modeling Program, solid modeling, surfacing is a plus. FEA is not necessary.
  • Must have a background of using other 3D file types that are not native to solidworks.
  • Must understand the different configurations upon import part/solid/surface, part/body modeling, and assembly/part.
  • Proficient with Windows based OS
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office
  • Extremely detail oriented.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently.
  • Quick learner
  • Be able to evaluate completeness of customer provided CAD in relation to source documentation. Example assembly instructions

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in corporate, professional install, or industrial products is a plus.
  • Previous experience with industrial design or engineering consultancy is a plus.
  • Experience interfacing with customers is a plus.
  • Experience interfacing with other departments (outside of design/engineering) in an organization on a regular basis is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate the assembly process and highlight any potential complications the end user might experience during the assembly process.
  • Modify CAD assets to facilitate the animation process such as separating joined components.
  • Generate 3D CAD assets from customer provided 2D CAD drawings or other customer provided reference materials.
  • Generate simple 3D CAD assets from customer provided products (reverse engineering) and perform simple mesh modeling tasks. Examples include flat pack furniture and smooth faced pillows.
