CAD Civil Designer/Drafter
About The Position
SCS Engineers is seeking an experienced AutoCAD Civil 3D drafter/designer to support solid waste and environmental projects for private and municipal clients. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, team-focused, and humble, with opportunities for career advancement through collaboration and company-sponsored training. This role involves drafting for horizontal and vertical construction, generating plan and profile views, cross-sections, and executing grading and cut/fill balancing. You will collaborate with engineers to incorporate mark-ups, prepare figures, and develop permit and construction documentation, working within a supportive team environment to complete tasks and projects independently. The position can be based in Tampa, Coconut Creek, West Palm Beach, Orlando, Mobile (AL), or Atlanta (GA), with a hybrid schedule potentially available for offices in the southeast depending on experience.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in drafting and design required.
- Experience in civil and site grading is required.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D required
- Valid driver's license with a driving record in good standing required
Nice To Haves
- Preference for candidates who have engineering consulting firm experience
Responsibilities
- Perform preparation of sheet sets, designing, drafting, detailing, and graphics layout with limited supervision
- Prepare site plan layouts from existing maps, incorporate corrections to existing drawings, evaluate existing conditions surveys, etc.
- Prepare permit and construction level documents using AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Perform volume calculations using AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Ability to create design surfaces, manage topographical survey surfaces, and integrate design surfaces into existing conditions
- Apply and follow appropriate AutoCAD standards and best practices
- Support all aspects of drafting or AutoCAD under the supervision of the lead professional
