Position Summary The Cabling Technician performs structured cabling installation, service, and maintenance for low-voltage infrastructure, including copper and fiber optic systems. This role involves hands-on work installing, terminating, and testing cabling systems in commercial environments.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2+ years of experience in low-voltage or structured cabling installation
  • Experience working with Cat3, Cat5/5e, Cat6, and fiber optic systems
  • Proven ability to install, terminate, and test copper and fiber optic cabling (single-mode and multimode)
  • Familiarity with industry-standard installation practices and tools
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings and schematics
  • Ability to lift and carry 40+ pounds of equipment and materials
  • Comfortable with physical, hands-on work including standing, bending, climbing, and working at heights
  • Reliable transportation to travel to job sites as needed
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
  • Must provide standard hand tools typically used in the trade

Responsibilities

  • Install and support low-voltage cabling systems, including structured cabling, access control, and fire alarm systems
  • Read and interpret project drawings, blueprints, and specifications
  • Pull, route, and secure low-voltage and fiber optic cabling
  • Install cable support systems (e.g., cable trays, pathways) and mounting hardware
  • Terminate and test Cat6 jacks, patch panels, and fiber optic connections
  • Install, dress, and organize cabling within racks and cabinets
  • Assist with creating and maintaining cable pathways
  • Perform equipment moves, adds, and changes as required
  • Maintain clean and organized job sites and follow all safety protocols
  • Support additional service and installation tasks as assigned
