About The Position

The Cable Technician will be responsible for installing, terminating, testing, and maintaining low-voltage cabling systems, including CAT5e, CAT6, CAT6A, and fiber optic cabling. This role involves working with cable trays, racks, conduits, and various termination connectors. The technician will also be involved in infrastructure build-outs, troubleshooting connectivity issues, and ensuring adherence to safety standards and documentation requirements.

Requirements

Deep knowledge of low-voltage cabling systems and standard practices.
Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings.
Proficiency with crimpers, punch-down tools, and cable testers.
Ability to lift heavy materials, climb ladders, and work in tight spaces.
Experience with CAT5e, CAT6, CAT6A, and fiber optic cabling.
Experience with terminating copper and fiber connectors.
Experience testing and certifying links with equipment like Fluke analyzers.
Experience installing racks, cabinets, and cable pathways.
Experience troubleshooting and repairing cabling faults.
Adherence to safety procedures (OSHA, NFPA).

Responsibilities

Pull, route, and manage CAT5e, CAT6, CAT6A, and fiber optic cabling through cable trays, racks, and conduits.
Terminate copper (patch panels, jacks) and fiber (LC, SC) connectors.
Test and certify links with equipment like Fluke analyzers.
Install racks, cabinets, cable pathways, and supporting hardware.
Troubleshoot, identify, and repair cabling faults and connectivity issues.
Adhere to all safety procedures (OSHA, NFPA), including safe use of ladders and lift equipment.
Label all cables and ports, and update documentation or as-built drawings.
