About The Position

The Cable Machine Operator operates and maintains machinery that winds cable onto spools, ensuring efficient, safe, and quality spooling according to specified requirements. The role includes preparing and adjusting the machine, cutting and spooling cable in various sizes, inspecting finished cable, tracking footage, packaging products, and moving cable with a forklift. The position is in the Union, Ohio area, with first- and second-shift openings. Second shift includes a $1 shift differential. Pay is $21.00–$23.00 per hour.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience as a machine operator in a manufacturing environment.
• Forklift and walkie license (mandatory).
• Basic mathematical skills.
• Attention to detail.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot machine issues.
• Time-management skills.
• Strong communication skills.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in a metal fabrication environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Set up and prepare the cable machine, adjusting tension, speed, and other settings to suit cable type and spooling specifications.
• Cut and spool cable of different sizes using cable-cutting machinery.
• Track cable footage on stock cable reels and update cable lot cards.
• Inspect cable during spooling for defects and to ensure it meets quality standards.
• Package finished products by strapping and skidding them.
• Pick and store cable in designated locations using a forklift.
• Follow production schedules.
• Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
