As a Cabinetmaker at Ackard, you’ll help bring our custom cabinetry to life in our cabinet shop. You’ll work from detailed drawings to fabricate, assemble, and finish high-quality cabinetry that meets our standards and exceeds client expectations. You will work independently, troubleshoot issues, lead by example, and ensure quality and efficiency in production. From reviewing plans to the final touch-ups, your precision and craftsmanship will ensure every install meets our standards—and wows our clients.

Requirements

  • Journeyman Cabinetmaker certification or equivalent hands-on experience
  • Experience in cabinet fabrication and finishing within a production environment
  • Ability to read and interpret detailed drawings and plans
  • Proficiency with woodworking machinery and hand tools
  • Strong attention to detail and pride in craftsmanship
  • Commitment to meeting production timelines without sacrificing quality
  • Professional attitude and ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Dependable, accountable, and motivated to continuously improve

Responsibilities

  • Arriving prepared and ready to begin work at the start of each shift
  • Reading and interpreting plans, drawings, and specifications
  • Setting up and safely operating woodworking machinery and hand tools
  • Measuring, cutting, and assembling cabinet components including bases, shelves, doors, drawers, and tops
  • Matching materials for color, grain, and texture consistency
  • Trimming joints for precise fit using hand tools
  • Boring holes for screws and dowels using hand or machine methods
  • Gluing, fitting, clamping, fastening, and reinforcing cabinet assemblies
  • Sanding and preparing surfaces for finishing
  • Installing hardware such as hinges, drawer slides, catches, and pulls
  • Assisting with assembly, adjustments, and shop throughput as required
  • Preparing and sanding cabinetry pieces to achieve professional-quality finishes
  • Spraying paint, lacquer, clear coat, or stain with consistent technique and attention to detail
  • Inspecting finished pieces for blemishes, dust, runs, or defects and completing required touch-ups
  • Fully disassembling, cleaning, inspecting, and reassembling spray guns, tips, hoses, and lines daily
  • Maintaining spray equipment and documenting maintenance as required
  • Keeping the spray booth, prep area, and shop clean, organized, and safe
  • Following all shop safety procedures and PPE requirements, including respirator and hearing protection
