About The Position

A Cabinet Shop Painter is responsible for preparing, priming, and painting cabinetry to a high standard of quality and durability. This includes surface preparation, color matching, application of finishes, and ensuring a flawless final product.

Requirements

Minimum 3-5 years of experience in cabinet painting or a related field.
Proficiency in various painting techniques, including spraying, rolling, and brushing.
Strong understanding of different paint types, stains, and clear finishes (oils, lacquers, shellacs, urethanes, alkyd, latex, etc.).
Excellent color vision and aesthetic judgment.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Good communication and problem-solving skills.
Ability to read and interpret paint specifications and instructions.
Knowledge of proper spray gun maintenance and cleaning procedures.
Physical ability to perform the job, including lifting and standing for extended periods.

Responsibilities

Prepare cabinet surfaces by sanding, cleaning, and patching as needed.
Select appropriate primers, paints, stains, and clear finishes.
Mix and match colors to achieve desired shades.
Apply finishes using various methods, including spraying, rolling, and brushing.
Ensure proper protection of surrounding areas during painting, such as masking walls, floors, and appliances.
Maintain a clean and organized work area.
Adhere to safety guidelines and procedures.
Inspect finished work for quality and address any imperfections.
Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors.
May be required to remove and install cabinet doors and hardware.
